So normally for Friday blog posts I try to end the week with a great blog post, and after struggling with ideas, it just randomly hit me!
There’s nothing I love more than EVERYTHING french, especially the way french women dress. The way it’s so effortless and chic blows me away! I did an inspiration post on HOW TO DRESS LIKE A PARISIAN so I thought it’s time for me to go into some closer more informative detail about it.
Before I get into this post I just wanted to clarify that I’m not 100% French and nor do I live in France, this is all what I’ve seen from street style and doing some research.
KEEP IT SIMPLE – with the first tip I don’t want to add any images because we all know what keeping it simple is… Going all the way back to basics! This is your white tees, jeans, trench coats and so on. Keeping everything simple and basic/neutral colours. Another thing to keep simple is the make-up and hair. Sorry for those who love to wear lots of make-up and spend hours on their hair but the French don’t have time for that. Bed hair can look so chic, and adding some BB-cream, eyebrows, mascara and a bit of lipstick is all you need, especially when you’re throwing on your favourite pair of sunglasses.
ADD STRIPES – I don’t want this to sound so cliche but if you want the Parisian look you’re going to need some stripe t-shirts in your wardrobe. Not only are they so Parisian, but they’re so complimenting and flattering.
KEEP THE SILHOUETTES SIMPLE – If you look at anyone who works in fashion who happens to be from France, you’ll notice their silhouettes are always simple. Nothing is too oversized or too tight, it’s always showing the bodies shape but adding flare to it. Trousers are always perfect and never fear going for an oversized tailored look.
INVEST IN THE BASICS – we all know how important the basics are, and the French are here to tell us why we need to invest. When you’re wearing a biker jacket constantly, you want it to be good quality, same goes with a trench coat. I’m not saying go out and buy a $3000 Burberry trench, but don’t be afraid to spend a little extra on something that should last you forever. Another thing to invest in is cashmere and blouses – a white button up should never cost a lot but it’s important to get a blouse that is good fabric and can be worn everyday of the year.
THE FLATTER THE BETTER – sorry to the ladies who love their heels, but the French don’t! If you want the whole Parisian look, go for some kitten heels or loafers; especially loafers because they’re so on trend and so comfortable. No one has time to be walking around in heels all day.
I hope some of my tips help you to get the Parisian look we’re all after! If you’re feeling inspired I’ve listed my favourite french ladies with amazing style below!
