Hello and welcome back to my blog!
If you’re a weekly reader I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m doing a post on a Wednesday?? But I just felt inspired and wanted to write – so here’s ANOTHER extra post!
In Australia, the Melbourne Cup races (horse racing) is happening on Tuesday, and it’s sort of a big deal. A lot of people go to have fun, dress up and others go for the horses and the gambling, but either way it’s another event to dress up for.
As it’s on Tuesday, I’ve seen a few people who I follow still not have an outfit lined up, so I went over to Princess Polly ( I’m obsessed with their clothing at the moment) and I found some appropriate clothing to wear to the races. Normally when it comes to the races, it’s appropriate clothing, nothing too short. Knee length anything is always good because nothing is going to fall out and it looks really elegant. My favourite go-to for events like this is a nice jumpsuit – they’re so easy to wear and you can spend more time having fun than worrying about what’s falling out.
When it comes to the races a lot of ladies wear fascinators which is great and they’re everywhere, but I wanted to add a hat into the collection instead; because it’s basically summer in Australia, I thought a straw hat would look really cute with a statement outfit and give it that race look. It’s an event where you can really go all out, but if I was going I’d keep it a bit chilled and wear a straw hat because it’s going to be hot and the sun will most likely be out!
As always, my picks are down below, all affordable and don’t have to be worn just for the races. I always find pieces that can be worn for almost any occasion.
QUICK TIP: Go for block heels because they’re easier to walk in and go for an off the shoulder bag because no one likes carrying a clutch.

I would love to know which piece is your favourite? I’m in LOVE with the orange off the shoulder jumpsuit!
